Week of December 3, 2020

Dear Parents,

Lizards, snakes, and crocodiles….oh my! We had quite an adventure on Friday learning about and actually touching reptiles during our in-class fieldtrip! We observed and examined a bearded dragon, a California king snake, and a gopher snake as well as compared these reptiles to an amphibian specimen. Thank you for your support of our programs and fieldtrips.

Congratulations to Ethan Kim for completing his November calendar for Read Your Heart Out Book It” program. Students may turn in November’s calendar next week. Remember to be reading at least 20 minutes or more per week. A December calendar is attached to this letter.

Have a cozy and dry weekend! God bless.

Kindergarten Mission Project - Making Fleece Comfort Blankets

Dear Parents,

For our Kindergarten mission project we will prepare comfort blankets and cards for families in need. We partner with the Salvation Army of Orange County who will distribute the blankets and cards to families at Christmas time.

To cover the cost of supplies we are asking that, if possible, each student donate $2.00 towards this mission project. We encourage students to find ways to earn the money to help them take ownership of their mission project. Students are to bring in their donations by Friday, December 7th.

We will be making the blankets on Wednesday, December 12th, from 10:30 – 11:30am. If you’d like to help us, please sign up on the PIP website.
Thank you!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Vandercook

Week of November 26, 2020

Dear Parents,

Didn’t our class do a fantastic job of shining for Jesus at School Family today? They had worked hard and put their hearts into it! We are so proud of them! J Thank you, parents, for helping us to rehearse before our School Family. Make sure you have your name on the PIP website if you were there early.

This week our focus has been on the history of our country’s Thanksgiving celebration. Also, we have talked about the abundance of blessings God has given each one of us. God has blessed me, as a teacher, with a class full of precious and endearing students! Their smiles, hugs, and eagerness to learn fill me with joy.

On Friday, we made adorable, edible “apple turkeys” and ate some delicious Thanksgiving treats. We’d like to thank Mariah Bennett, Mateo Bush, Sam Milner, Riley Morris, and Ethan Sickles for bringing treats and supplies. A grateful thank you goes to Riley’s mom and grandmothers for helping us with our edible craft!

Happy Thanksgiving and God bless.

Week of November 13, 2020

Dear Parents,

On Monday, our class participated in the voting system. We each filled out a ballot choosing between two treats and cast our votes. Next, we tallied the votes and determined that ice cream won by a landslide! Of course, we had to experience the benefit of our voting system by eating an ice cream treat the next day. Please remember to pray for our country’s elected leaders and that they make decisions that honor God.

Our class has been heartily preparing for our “Gratefulness” School Family for next Friday, 11-16! They are doing a terrific job practicing this week! We hope you can join us at 8:45am in the Freed Theater next Friday.

Thank you for contributing bottles and cans to support our athletic/sports program! Our class brought in the most recyclables! As a result we will get an extra P.E. period (which we love) and also a new playground ball! Yippee!

Patrick Beardsley, Jacob Muriel, and Mia Urbina brought in their completed Box Tops for Education sheets! Bravo! Please bring in more box tops if you have them.

Have a wonderful Veteran’s Day weekend! God bless.
