Week of April 27, 2009
Dear Parents,
It’s been a terrific week being back with our wonderful class! We have been working hard on our science and writing projects as well as reviewing 3rd grade math skills. Our Disneynature fieldtrip was thoroughly enjoyable and the students wrote reflective paragraphs regarding what they learned.
Next week is SAT testing. We strongly encourage families to do the following:
1. Get plenty of rest. There will be no homework assigned next week. Please
enable your child to get to bed on time.
2. Eat a good breakfast each day. Your child will need energy to maintain a
good focus during the testing process.
3. Be at school on time. We will promptly begin testing at the beginning of
each school day next week. (Mon. - Thurs.)

No Homework Assigned During SAT testing: However….spending time reviewing multiplication facts and reading each night are very profitable uses of time!!!
Last Book Report - Diorama: The book report and diorama is due Monday, May 4th. If students need an additional copy of the book report form they can ask for one in the classroom.
Baby Pictures: Please send in a baby or toddler picture of your child for an end-of-the-year project. We will make a copy of it and return the picture to you if needed.
Open House: Thursday, May 7th.
Our Class’ Next School Family Presentation: “Patriotism” - Friday, May 22nd
End of the Year Classroom Awards: Just a reminder that our awards ceremony will be held in our classroom after School Family on Friday, June 5th. Please plan to join us on that day if possible.

Spelling Homework: Using list #27, students are to write sentences using any 10 of the spelling words. Due next Wednesday. On the spelling test students must write the first 13 spelling words in cursive.
Last Book Report - Diorama: Students may choose a book from home or the library. The book report is due Monday, May 4th. Please see the attached book report form.

Easter Break: No school on Friday, April 10th, through Friday, April 17th. We return to school on Monday, April 20th.
Disneynature Earth Fieldtrip: Thursday, April 23rd; 10am movie presentation at Downtown Disney. Permission slip and fee will be due Tuesday, 4/21, after we return from Easter break. Please see attached information.
SAT Testing: Monday, April 27 – Friday, April 30th. Please do not schedule appointments
or trips that will interfere with the SAT testing. Thank you!

Where: AMC theaters at Downtown Disney

Time: 9am – 12:30pm
Cost: $12.00 per student. Please make checks payable to C.C.A.; memo: 3rd gr. Fieldtrip. If a family is unable to cover this cost, please see Mrs. Vandercook or contact her by e-mail: vandercook@crystalcathedral.org
Wear: Friday uniform with sweater or vest
Bring: snack and drink; no glass bottles; an AMC representative reported that the theater snack bar will be open
Due Date: Signed permission slip and fieldtrip fee are due Tuesday, April 21st, after Easter break.

Dear Parents,
Next Monday is our fieldtrip! Helena Modjeska was an artist and an actress. The focus of the fieldtrip will be on the arts. Students will get to perform a play she wrote, paint with water colors, and make beeswax candles. We are very excited for this adventure! Please review our reminder list (blue flyer) to be ready for Monday.
Congratulations to Madison Rausher for passing the 5 minute test of 100 multiplication facts. Ali Miller passed the 4 minute test. Wonderful!

Pizza Party on Tuesday! The P.T.T. will provide pizza next Tuesday, 4/7 for lunch as a reward for turning in the most box tops in the lower grades. Yea! Be sure to cancel hot lunch if needed.
Easter Party on Thursday: Next Thursday, 4/9, at 2:15pm. We will have treats, make a craft, and play Easter bingo. Please join us if you can! If you can bring in a treat, please send in the sign-up sheet enclosed.

• Meet in rm. 226, (Mrs. Vandercook’s) at 7:50am
• Leave school at 8:15 am sharp
• Wear Friday uniform
• Bring uniform sweater or jacket
• Wet weather: if a student does not own a red C.C.A. hooded jacket he or she may bring a personal one from home in the event of light rain/sprinkles.
• Bring sack lunch
• Cancel hot lunch if you have ordered lunch for your child
• No gift shop
• Return to school at 1:30pm
* Please be on time. Students who come to my classroom
on time can help themselves to bagels & cream cheese
and juice.
