Art projects for the week of September 28
Kindergarten
* Project 3: The Color Wheel (6 colors)
Medium: Tempera paint
Goal: 1) Understand the primary and secondary colors.
2) Learn how to mix secondary colors.
1st Grade
*Project 3: Bird
Medium: Soft Pastel
Goal: 1) Draw using simple shapes.
2) Blend colors and tones in pastel.
2nd Grade
* Project 2: My Color Book
Medium: Tempera Paint & Marker
Goal: 1) Understand the color theory
2) Be able to mix colors with ease.
3rd Grade
* Project 3: Tree
Medium: Pencil & Color pencil
Various types of trees and their shapes will be discussed. This project will be mainly done in pencil and students are welcome to add tints of colors with color pencils towards the end.
Goal: 1) Be able to draw a realistic looking tree.
2) Break a complicated object into simple shapes.
4th Grade
*Project 3: Landscape
Medium: Watercolor
Goal: 1) Learn different watercolor washes.
2) Plan out the painting process from light washes to dark ones.
5th Grade
*Project 3: Hands
Medium: Pencil
Goal: 1) Be able to start out the drawing with a quick sketch.
2) Learn how to render tones to add dimension.
High School Ceramics
* Project 3: Slab Construction
Medium: Clay
Specification: Stuednts are required to make 2 art works for this project.
1) Mug: Students need to be able to build a mug using slabs.
2) Cityscape: Students need to build a city using slabs.
This project is due on October 23. The Quiz #3 will be due on the same day.
We will start glazing pinch pots in October.

***Art Book Contest: A Tribute to Young Artists***
Dear CCA parents,
The National Treasures Publishing Company just let me know that the art book is in the printer and it will take about 6 weeks. Originally the book was supposed to be published during summer, however, it took longer due to unexpected situations. The books will be delivered around late October or early November. I thank you for your patience!
