P.E. & Athletics Department Information
Fifth grade Handball Tournament date is set for Friday, December 14, 3:30 - 5:00 PM in the CCA gym. This is a double elimination tournament. Signup sheet will be provided to Mrs. Papelian the week of December 3rd.

Sports: The forms listed below must be completed at the beginning of each school year by parents and student athletes prior to participating on any CCHS team.

Hard copy packets of the required forms are available at my office during the school day. You can also click on the links below to print out a copy of each of the required forms. The Code of Ethics and Physical Exam forms are Adobe files. New forms must be completed before the start of each new school year and returned to the Athletics Office.

Athletic Fees:
$150 per sport; billed to the student's account. Athletic fees pay for league dues, referees, field rentals, replacement equipment/uniforms, trophies, medals, certificates and other expenses related to the annual sports awards night (Monday, May 20, 7:00 PM in Freed Theater)

Physical Exam Reminder:
All athletes (high school only) must take a physical exam before the first game of their season.

Parents wishing to volunteer to be an assistant coach on a CCHS team should first discuss the need with the appropriate coach. Names of prospective volunteer assistant coaches will be reviewed/approved by the Athletics Director.

WINTER H.S. SPORTS
Boys and girls who wish to play basketball must pick up athletics paperwork (forms) in September. Completed forms--including the physical exam using the form provided--must be turned in to the Athletics Director by November 16 (boys) and December 14 (girls). Basketball season begins in December (boys) and January 2013 (girls).

Coach Jon Yim was hired on staff by the L.A. Clippers so he cannot return to coach the boys. Instead, former CCA/CCHS basketball player, Keith Rumenser, has been hired as the boys' coach. Congratulations and welcome, Coach Keith!

HIGH SCHOOL P.E.
Students must be in the proper P.E. uniform for class. Out of uniform = a 20% deduction; Tardy or lack of effort = a 40% deduction of the day's participation points. Participation is worth 75% of the grade.

Gym lockers with combination lock are issued to all PE students/dancers/ athletes. Lost/ damaged locks incur a $10 replacement charge.

Quarterly Test:
The 2nd Quarter written test/physical strength performance test (push ups and situps) will be given the week of December 10th.

H.S. PE Test Review Information

Grading breakdown: 10% test; 15% demonstrated skill level; and 75% participation. P.E. classes are Monday through Friday for one semester.

D = 60 - 69
F = 59 & below

b>MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS:
Students who wish to play in any sport during the school year must have their parents complete a Permission/Commitment/Uniform Statement (2 pg) and three Medical Consent and Release Forms. All four forms (with original signature) must be returned to me prior to participation on any CCA team. Use the links below to print out copies of these forms.

WINTER M.S. SPORTS
Winter sports for boys is basketball; for girls - volleyball. I will again coach the boys basketball team. But, we welcome a former CCA middle school and CCHS and club volleyball player as our girls vollyeball coach...Natalie Bean. Welcome Back to CCA, Coach Natalie.

First practices for boys basketball and girls volleyball will be held Tuesday, Nov 27th. Practice days for both boys and girls teams are Tue and Thu, 3:30 - 5:30 PM.

MIDDLE SCHOOL P.E.
P.E. classes are held every day for one semester. Students will be expected to be in the proper P.E. uniform every class session. A 20% point deduction will be made from the daily participation grade for being out of uniform. A 40% deduction from the day's participation points will be made for Tardy or Lack of effort. Participation is 75% of the grade for the class.

M.S. PE Test Review Information

Grading breakdown: 10% project, 5% test, 10% skills evaluation, 75% participation. Points (20%) are deducted from the daily participation grade for each day student is not in correct P.E. uniform (light gray T-shirt and dark blue shorts). P.E. classes are Monday through Friday for one semester.

2nd Quarter Project (2012-13):
Deadline for turn-in of Second Quarter project will be December 14th. A reduction in points applies for late turn-in of the project (10% per school day late).
