Fourth Grade PE Projects have been assigned for the second quarter and due by Thursday January 14, 2010. I did forget to change the year on the assignment sheet that will be going out in the Friday folders on 11/13. Choose one of the following projects:
25 Mile Club
Complete one 25 Mile Club chart. Each 15 minutes of non-stop aerobic exercise counts as one mile. To fill in a box write the date and what activity was done. Each box must be individually filled out, no repeat signs. Sports team practice or games may count toward the 25 Mile Club if the activity is continuous and aerobic. Generally there are portions of a practice that are business and instruction as well as rest/drink breaks. Count only the portions that are non-stop for 15 minutes (or more) and increase the heart rate. You must turn in the record of your work on an official 25 Mile Club form and it must be signed by your parent.
Basketball Routine
Create and perform a basketball routine that uses 5 different ball handling/dribbling skills and is at least 90 seconds in length. You must sign up by December 3rd to do this assignment. When you sign up with me you will be given a date on which to perform your routine and receive your grade.
Sport Brochure or Poster
Create a brochure or poster that traces the development of a sport from its earliest beginnings to the present day. Include pictures or graphics, several personalities famous in the sport, Information about how the game is played, diagram of the court or field, information on game strategy, anything else of particular interest (possibly a picture of you participating in the sport).
Personal Fitness Program
Plan and carry out your own personal fitness program. You will be turning in 2 different papers, your plan and a log of what you actually did do. Your plan must be for 3 weeks of exercise at least 3 days per week for 20 or more minutes each time. Turn your written plan in and then follow that plan for the next three weeks. If you choose this project you must turn in your detailed written plan by December 3, 2009. You must also turn in the exercise log by the project due date of January 14, 2010.
