Dear Parents,

MERRY CHRISTMAS! May God Bless your family! Have a very restful Christmas break filled with lots of joy and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year!

I was so impressed with our Christmas Program!! Our fifth graders did a phenomenal job! The entire music staff did a fabulous job, especially Miss DeLeon who worked so hard preparing the kids!!!

Dear Parents… I am so grateful for my students and their parents!! I would especially like to send out hugs and bushels of thank you’s to all the parents who came out and helped run the Glory Tables!!! All of you were an amazing help! I was probably the luckiest teacher working the glory tables this year!! Furthermore, many big Thank You’s to all the parents who generously provided treats for our party and who volunteered their time!!!

Over Christmas Break:
Students should read/work on their Mystery book report and Explorer Project. I attached information about the Explorer project to the hard copy of the Friday Letter in your child's Friday Folder.

STUDENT CORNER

What a Wonderful Week
Extra! Extra! Read all about the scoop about the class making newspapers. We pretended that Jesus was born yesterday and we created headlines reflecting that. Our Newspapers needed to be dated the day after Jesus’ Birth. On Thursday, we finished our newspapers! The class was very creative! Some people created “Wanted” signs and others did weather forecasts on their papers. On Friday, we had a breakfast themed party. We even had crepes! We also had crafts and we played a White elephant game! WHAT A WONDERFUL WEEK!

The Christmas Program
On Monday, we performed in the Christmas Program. Everyone did very well. Some people in our class were in band, choir, and dance. The fifth grade sang “Oh Sleep My Dear Little Baby. “ Melissa in the other fifth grade class played the guiro and some of our classmates played the maracas. Nathan, who is also in the other class, played his guitar. The whole school sang Immanuel at the end of the show. We all have been practicing for the Christmas program for a long time. Miss Deleon worked very hard. She taught each K-5th class a song to perform.

Reading: After Christmas Break we will begin reading Ella Enchanted. In the mean time, students will begin to work on their next Quarterly Reading Project at home. This quarter students are required to read a Mystery. They will pretend to be a detective on a case for which they will create a case file. It’s a fun project which allows kids to be creative. Students got to see some examples of great work from years past. Please encourage your child to follow the rubrics. Mystery projects are due on January 16th.

Writing: We completed our five paragraph persuasive essay. Your child should have brought the essay home to show you what a great job they did!! I AM SO PROUD OF THEM!

Spelling: We will be doing List 27 when we return!

Bible: Students created Newspaper headlines and articles for the day after Jesus’ Birth. They created some very creative newspaper articles!

Social Studies: We took our Social Studies test! On a whole, kids did a great job! Look for them in the Friday Folders. Students will be responsible for their explorer project throughout Christmas break at home. They will also have lots of school time to work on it upon our return!

Math: Look for Math Tests in the Friday Folder! Kids did a great job!

Christian Characteristic Award: No Award was given this week since we didn’t have School Family.
