SPELLING: We have completed our spelling program.
READING: Please read 10 minutes each night.
MATH: Complete side (B) of any math sheets sent home. Practice math flashcards nightly.
POEM: Practice Montly Poem.
BIBLE: We will review previous Bible Verses for the remainder of the year.
WHAT'S NEW THIS WEEK:
MATH: Subtracting two-digit numbers.
GRAMMAR: *Every sentence should have a subject and verb.
* Every sentence should end with the correct punctuation.
LOOKING AHEAD:
June 5th- Awards- Immediately following School Family.
June 9th- End of the year party. (Free Dress) We will have a class picnic on the grass area.
June 10th- Last Day of School- Minimum Day.

SCIENCE: What can we observe about Gases? We will learn how the air is made up of different gases.
SOCIAL STUDIES:: A look at Brazil. What kinds of goods do people make in Brazil? Where is Brazil located on the map?
Awards: Congratulations to the Entire first grade class for receiving the "Patriotism" award this week. Way to go first grade!

SPELLING:
We have completed our Spelling Curriculum. For the next few weeks we will have spelling words from other areas of the curriculum. The last two words on the list will be extra credit "Bonus" words. The students should practice as normal.

READING: Monday-Thursday. Please read 10 minutes each night.
MATH: Complete side "B" of any math sheets sent home. Practice flashcards nightly. Many of the students are struggling with their math drills. Please make sure they practice nightly! This will help your child better prepare for 2nd. grade.
POEM: Practice monthly poem (Freckles) nightly. Be prepared to recite at the end of the month.
BIBLE: Christian Characteristic: Patriotism
Weekly Bible Verse: "Happy is the people whose God is the Lord".

WHAT'S NEW THIS WEEK:
Math: Using comparison symbols.
Science: We have completed our unit on Sea Life. What's Next? Matter and Energy. New Vocabulary: solid, liquid, matter, float, gas, mechanic and change.
