Dear Parents,
As I write this we are in the middle of the Christmas party which is proving to be a great success. Thank you for sending the food for the party and the “white elephant” gifts. Mrs. Aspling, Mrs. Moore and Mrs. MacDonald did a marvelous job planning and putting on the party.
Special dates:
We return on Jan. 5, 2009
We do the school family on January 23rd.
Homework:
The Time Line is due on Jan. 13th.
There is no new Bible verse. We will review the verses we already have.
We will be on spelling list number 14.
Some students have homework in their handwriting book if they are not up to page 60. They need to finish the pages up through 60 by Jan. 5th
Math: We have had special math work sheets for most of this week. I did a couple of lessons on learning to read the thermometer.
Language and Reading: Students wrote a Christmas cinquain. Thursday students wrote a paragraph about an experience where they had strong feelings or mixed feelings. This was a follow up lesson from reading a story called Ramona Forever. We spent a lot of time on the story explaining emotions and feelings expressed by the main character. We are also working in our workbook on plural forms of words. We are grateful to Mrs. Lomakin who read two lovely Christmas stories to the students during our library time. Thank you Mrs. Lomakin for the lovely gifts for the children as well!
I wish to thank all of the families for the cards and gifts I received as well as the two lovely group gifts. Thank you again! Most of all, thank you for sharing your child with me in the classroom each day!
Bible: We memorized the twelve sons of Jacob. Students participated in our wonderful Christmas program. I was so proud of all of our students.
I want to wish all of you a blessed Christmas season and a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas,
Mrs. Doris Hungerford
