Week of May 3

Congratulations to Imani for the award this week for Decision!

We've got a busy but short week ahead. We'll be keeping things a bit more simple in order to help provide more time to put finishing touches on the Science Fair Projects at home.
The only quiz to prepare for this week is Tuesday's Language quiz for Unit 8.

Please join us for Open House Celebration of the year on Thursday night from 6-8. Come see all the great science fair projects, piece of work from this year, and you can check out next year's classes too.

Friday~ NO School. Enjoy!

Love,
Mrs. Dey

Week of April 26

Congratulations to Alexa for this week's award for Reverence!

Important reminder that we will continue SAT testing for the first half of the week- please be on time, well rested, fed, and no appointments causing missed school.
Thank you!

Wednesday~ Verse due- 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
Science Ch 5 test
Thursday~ Ch 7 quiz
Friday~ Parent Meeting at 3:30 for 6th grade- students will stay in daycare free. Please plan on attending this brief meeting.

Reminder that we've had fewer items for homework in order to provide more time for Science Fair Projects! These are coming due very soon. Remember to be looking over info. sheets and consider creativity when designing the board.
Some students have not yet turned in Checkpoint #2 which is part of the science grade as well as a way to keep students on track with the project.
These need to be completed properly by Monday.

We learned about the 13 Colonies and how the government worked. ... they didn't vote secretlylike today, they used to say it out loud so sometimes they were "booed" or "yayed"! In crime you would go to jail, but back in the Colonial times, they didn't. For minor crimes, they humiliated them, but for major crimes they sometimes were killed. In my opinion, it was cool and interesting to learn more about Colonial times.

On Monday, we had Colonial Day. Alexis and Bethene dressed up in nice colonial clothes. We did some crafts like making a hornbook, colonial home, corn husk doll, stain glass (with paper), and sock dolls. During those crafts, we were handed a small container with heavy whipping cream. We shook it into butter and it came out delicious. It was fun and interesting to learn about how life was like for the children during the colonial times.

SAT testing is during the week of April 26th. We will probably begin early to help accomodate the fact that we will loose some students for the choir trip that week. Please refrain from scheduling appointments during that time that would prevent students from being at school on time and all day.

Thank you so much! It is already our last quarter of 5th grade.
