Christmas Break

Enjoy your Christmas Break!

Thank you so much for the wonderful Christmas gifts from so many of you! You are all so generous and I am so blessed to have you as my students.

Please see the short list of reminder things on the note that went home today.
Thank you for doing a great job this past week, studying for the tests we had to get them done before break.
I was impressed with the way most of you knew your long verse. Congratulations to those of you who did such a great job. Unfortunately, some of you who did not take care of that in the past couple days, will see the results in your Bible grade.

Big reminders:
Monday Jan.4 Your mythical country Introductions are due.
Book Reports are due Friday as well as the presentation portion.

This week we had a fun filled Christmas Program. I heart a lot of parents saying that we did a good job. Our Music teacher, Miss. D. said that we did way better than our rehearsals. The whole 5th grade sang Cantaol al Senor. Also the very last song of the program, which was Joy to the World. Everybody did a great job. Have a safe and fun Christmas and New Year.

On Wednesday, we learned about Zechariah. He was the father of John, or John the Baptist. We learned that Zechariah did not believe the angel that came to him saying that he was going to have a son. As a punishment, Zechariah was not able to talk until John was born. He wrote "His name is John" on a tablet, then he was able to speak again! This was an interesting story.

Enjoy your family, friends, good foods, gifts, weather, and time off! See you next year...

Thank you again,

Last Week Before Christmas Break!

We're working hard in class on projects and getting everything done before the Christmas break. Rosie's mom supplied pizza for lunch for all our hard work so far. Thanks!

This week:
Monday~ Headline Project due- check rubric!
Christmas Program rehearsals- be sure you have proper items for whatever you are practicing for!
Christmas Program- mandatory for music grade- come dressed and with needed items as required for whatever part you do. Be no later than 6:45 unless requested earlier. Tell your parents which is a good side to sit to see you best!
Wednesday~ Verse due John 1:1-9
Language test
Thursday~ Vocabulary test for adjective list
Friday~ 1/2 day- Students are out at noon and there is NO daycare.
Our Christmas Party- bring the food you signed up for as well as your white elephant gift (or earlier) Remember this should be something that is useful, but often not considered a gift and is already at your house. Don't tell what your gift is and we will play a game with them. No tag is needed on the gift.

Then two weeks off for a very Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much for reading this and keeping in tune with dates.

Week of Dec. 7th

Congratulations to Rosie for this week's award on Generosity!
Reminder that there will be no school family this Friday the 11th.

Monday~Science Ch 1 test
Tuesday~ S.S. Ch 4 quiz
Wednesday~Math test 5
Thursday is our class' Glory Table Night- sign up on PIP if you'd like to join!

We have multiple projects going on right now-Headlines will be due 12/14
We are working hard in class and I am always delighted with how quietly this class works. They are such a wonderful class and I feel very blessed. There may be fewer homework items because of the in-class projects as long as students are using time well in class! Work on mystery books during free time.

The annual Christmas Program is NEXT Monday, the 14th. Program begins at 7 pm. Be sure you know what time you are to be there and where. Reminder that this is required for the music grade as well as staying through the end as all students sing together at the very end.

Verse assigned today John 1:1-9 is due 12/16
Reminder that Friday 12/18 is a half day and students need to be picked up by 12:30 latest- we are out at 12 noon.
We will be discussing our Christmas celebration for that day very soon.

We have started a new Bible project. Its about the birth of Jesus. We have to write a headline [article]. The main writing is the birth of Jesus... Then we can add extra things like sports, ads, games, comics, entertainment, etc. We also need to color it. Its going to be fun.

On Tuesday, our whole school got to see the Glory of Christmas. Other schools came to watch the Glory of Christmas, too. The Glory of Christmas showed us the birth of Jesus. There was wonderful dancing, singing, acting, and music in the Glory of Christmas. The people on stage played as rich kings, servants, beautiful angels, hardworking shepherds, kind village people, and mean soldiers. On stage, there were animals like donkeys, sheep, camels, and llamas. The Glory of Christmas was very fun to watch and learn about the birth of Jesus, I think the other schools liked it, too.
