- More About Men's Ministry
The Crystal Cathedral ministry to men started in the late 80’s through a group of dedicated men on campus. Seeing the need for a ministry to men they began to meet on Wednesday mornings for a time of fellowship, study and discussion. This group of men then came together under the direction of Pastor Dick Klaver who launched a support group for men called Men at Peace. Men at Peace is a support group for men dealing with anger. In 1991 Dick Klaver and this group of men put together our first men’s conference. Since that time 1,000’s of men have come to the Crystal Cathedral for men’s events such as our International Men’s Conference, Men’s Retreats, Christian Coaching and Leadership Development courses as well as participating through tele-conferences.
In 2005 we decided that it was time to move from a ministry of instruction to a ministry of transformation. The men began the Wild at Heart journey and through Bible Studies, workshops and retreats and through these experiences men started to appreciate their Christian manhood. Today our ministry to men is about transformation and encouragement, support and helping our youth and young men understand what it means to be a man.
Our ministry is under the direction of Harold Shaw and led by our Steering Team consisting of Kent Smirl, Gary Larson, Bill Gaultiere, Jim Case, Brett DaPena, James Owen, Montee Skorich, Chuck Hahn, Joe Kahapea, LT Scott and Bernard Harris.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Our mission statement also reflects our commitment to fulfill the vision God has given us. In our quest for manhood, our mission is to develop men into servant leaders who are living out their strengths with integrity and transparency.
KEY THEMES
*Intimacy with God
We believe God desires an intimate relationship with every man.
Through prayer, worship, and Bible Study we can pursue and achieve
intimacy with the Father.
*Relevant Environments
We believe our role is to create environments that are conducive
to the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of men. A relevant
environment combined with competent leadership will allow us to
connect with our audience.
*Relational Evangelism
We believe that all men have the responsibility of carrying out
the great commission in their sphere of influence.
*Band of Brothers
We believe accountability, care, and a sense of belonging are
critical to balance and progress in our spiritual journey.
These three things are best achieved within the context of a small
group of like-minded, relationally-connected band of brothers.
*Strategic Service
As gifted members of the body of Christ, each man is responsible
for exercising his gifts in tandem with other members of the body.
*Formation of Ministry Teams
Ministry teams are people gathered together to accomplish a task.
Our desire is to build relationships with others through shared
ministry.
