The Person Is A Physical-Spiritual Unity
1. Job speaks after being devastated by one loss and catastrophe after another:
Job 17:1 "My spirit is broken, my days are cut short, the grave awaits me."
Job 17:7 - "My eyes have grown dim with grief: my whole frame is but a shadow."
1. David is wracked by guilt after something he did:
Psalm 38:4 - "My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear."
Vs 5 - "My wounds fester…because of my sin…."
Vs 7 - "My back is filled with searing pain; there is no health in my body."
Vs 10 - "My heart pounds…..even the light has gone from my eyes."
Vs 11 - "My friends…avoid me….my neighbors stay far away."
Proverbs 3:7-8 - Do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and shun evil.
This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.
Proverbs 13:12 - Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.
Proverbs 14:30 - A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.
Proverbs 15:13 - A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.
Proverbs 15:30 - A cheerful look bring joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.
Proverbs 16:24 - Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 - A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 18:44 - Our spirit sustains us in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear.
