Samuel Yung

2159 06/19/11

RHS: I have a special guest this morning, and his name is Samuel Yung. Thirteen years ago I was in Taiwan delivering a motivational lecture to corporate people and one of the young men came up to me afterwards, introduced himself and I met him for the first time, Sam Yung. He became a Christian and has lived that life very beautifully.
He is today the executive district director of one of the largest insurance groups in the world. I appreciate so much that he would give of his valuable time to come over here and say hello to us and share his faith with us. Today he is serving our ministry as a volunteer, chairman of the board of directors of the Hour of Power office in Hong Kong. Welcome, Mr. Yung!

SY: Thank you, Dr. Schuller.

RHS: Well what brings you here?

SY: I come here to see you and also I want to share my testimony with the brothers and sisters in the United States.

RHS: Good. Share your story.

SY: Okay, this time I come here, I should like to share how God guided me in the financial tsunami.

RHS: Financial tsunami?

SY: Tsunami, yes.

RHS: In Hong Kong?

SY: I think the tsunami not only in Hong Kong, but also in the world.

RHS: Yes, I think so.

SY: During 2008, in the beginning of the financial tsunami, like many others, my parent company in United States was near bankruptcy if there was no additional capital injection. At the time, everybody was in fear and in Hong Kong, our colleagues also very fearful. But for me, I felt peaceful and calm because I know God is my protection and we rely on God and trust in God. I think God will bring us to go through this tough time because I know everything is in God's hands. If God allows my parent company to collapse, what can I do? But I believe that God will open another opportunity for me.
But on the contrary, my parent company survived. I have nothing to worry, so I continue to pray and wait for the Lord. I also read the bible, and Psalm 91, especially verses one and two and seven speak to my heart. Can I read?

RHS: You read English?

SY: In English, yes. Not read in Chinese. "He who travels in the shadows of the Most High will rest in the shadows of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." Verse 7, "A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you." After I read this, I feel very, very peaceful and I continue to pray and also dedicate in my work.
And for me, in the last two years, my personal business went very well. I recently received the award from my company, the top district director award in my company. And in addition, my personal income was the highest in my career of 29 years.

RHS: Wow. Samuel, you are very generous. Always have been and God has blessed you.

SY: I know this is what we must follow from the bible. Can I read the bible?

RHS: Sure, you sure can.

SY: From the bible, Malachi chapter three, verse 10 says: "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse that they may be filled in My house. Test Me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the flood gates of the heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." I believe in God's word during the tough times, throughout my personal career, even though the Asia financial crisis, the SARS and also the recent financial tsunami. I always tithe ten percent, and sometimes more than that because I trust in my God's word, and my God's word is real.

RHS: What people cannot see is those verses are underlined in yellow in your bible.

SY: Yes, underlined. And I hear it in my mind, in my heart and I use it and am waiting for my God. And also, I believe that God will renew our strength.

RHS: Thank you.

SY: Thank you, Dr. Schuller.

RHS: Thank you, very, very much.
