Crystal Cathedral Ministries Announces Rancho Capistrano Closing

January 29, 2010

Crystal Cathedral Ministries (CCM) announces a decision made by their International Board of Trustees to close down operations at the ministry's San Juan Capistrano location. The Rancho Capistrano site ("The Ranch") has provided years of spiritual outreach through retreats and renewals, weddings and religious gatherings.

Regrettably, the current economic climate and the rising costs of supporting The Ranch operations led the Board to this final decision. An exact date for the closing is pending, but is projected to be effective the 3rd week of March. Weddings currently booked at the Ranch will continue through the end of the year but all other events and activities will discontinue in late March.

CCM has been actively seeking a buyer for the 20-acre Retreat Center located on the property. The remaining 150 acres are currently in escrow to be sold to Continuing Life Communities with an option to the City of San Juan Capistrano for 115 of those acres. Efforts to sell the property will continue, allowing CCM to move forward with a more focused approach with its world-recognized and respected positive ministry.

98 acres of the Rancho Capistrano property was a gift to the Crystal Cathedral from the late John Crean and his wife Donna, founders of Fleetwood Enterprises, in 1981. It was their dream to establish a place of spiritual renewal where persons would find hope once again as John found hope and renewal in Alcoholics Anonymous.

The Crystal Cathedral acknowledges and profoundly thanks John and Donna Crean, and their family, for making years of spiritual renewal possible at Rancho Capistrano. Additionally, during building and development of the property, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Karcher, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Meinders...along with hundreds of other individuals and families...gave unselfishly to make positive renewal possible for thousands over the past 29 years.
