C3 is the pioneer contemporary ministry of the Crystal Cathedral and meets every single week in the Freed Theater at 11:00 AM. Our goal is to be a community built around the love of Jesus Christ that reaches seekers, builds believers, and changes the world.

What should I expect at C3?

C3 is a LIVE video venue of the Crystal Cathedral with the same interview and message as the Hour of Power and Crystal Cathedral Classic, with full contemporary worship in an awesome venue called Freed Theater located on the lower level of the Welcoming Center building. 

You can expect to connect with the Lord through great rock style worship music, enriching messages and special guests, free coffee, and an environment where people know your name.

Who attends C3?

Really, anyone is welcome at C3.  We have all ages ranging from seniors in their latter years to infants.  Children are welcome to worship with their families in C3 though we encourage kids to attend Kid Power Plant or Student Ministries.  The only exception to that is if a child is abnormally loud during the service we ask parents to respect the worship service.

Who leads C3?

C3 has two main pastors and is largely volunteer-run.

Gretchen Schuller-Penner is the C3 host pastor.  Gretchen is married to Jim Penner and has two children, Julia and Paige.  She has served in numerous different capacities at the Crystal Cathedral including her current role in TV programming.  Gretchen’s heart is to connect with the women of C3 by being a light for Jesus Christ and a conduit of God’s power and wisdom.  To connect with her, email us at c3@crystalcathedral.org.

Kyle Steven Bonenberger is the contemporary worship pastor at the Crystal Cathedral.  Kyle is married to Lisa Ramsland Bonenberger and says the most important day in his life is every day.  Kyle serves in several capacities on Crystal Cathedral staff and loves the church.  He is currently in seminary studying to finish his Masters of Divinity.  Kyle’s favorite three restaurants where you can often find him are Rubios, In-N-Out, and Pick-Up Stix.  To get in touch with Kyle, email us at c3@crystalcathedral.org. 

Lisa Ramsland Bonenberger is a volunteer in charge of connection ministries, volunteers, and a smiling warm face at C3 every single week.  Lisa’s love for Jesus is evident to everyone who meets her.  Lisa formerly served as a small groups pastor of a large church in San Diego called “The Church at Rancho Bernardo.”  Currently, she is studying to complete her Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry and Leadership.  She and Kyle got married July 5th, 2008 at the Crystal Cathedral.

How can I get involved in C3?

That is the best question yet!  For starters, C3 volunteers have a simple process to get involved that starts with simply attending every week.  After consistent attendance, simply talk to Lisa and let her know what area of ministry you are interested in and we’ll start you out.  There is a small interview/questionnaire and we’ll get you trained up in the areas you need!

How can I plug my family into the broader church?

Great question.  At C3, we care about families — all sizes, shapes, and life-stages. It is our goal to help you connect with families that are similar yours - families that are also getting through what you are going through.

KIDS – The Crystal Cathedral has an awesome place for your kids to plug in called Kid Power Plant.  Drop off your kids there and come worship with us!
